The Jeff Vickers FRPS Genix Imaging Bursary

The Royal Photographic Society is very pleased to announce three new youth photography bursaries launched today with funding from Jeff Vickers FRPS.

Vickers is well-known as one of the UK’s most successful commercial photographers and as chairman of Genix Imaging (http://www.genix.co.uk/), he is responsible for creating a huge portfolio of bespoke photography, graphics, colour printing and installation for most of the UK’s top retailers, including Nike, Selfridges, M&S Simple Food, Burger King and Gap to name but a few. Genix’s work can be seen on every high street and having started young himself, Vickers is only too aware how important it is to nurture talent from an early age.

It is with this in mind that he decided to mark his 50 years in photography by generously sponsoring youth photography bursaries with the Royal Photographic Society. These bursaries will be for three years at £5000 pa each. It is anticipated that there will be one per year for three years each lasting three years. In total they will run for five years at £45,000.

The bursaries aim to inspire and encourage young photographers to excel in the field and applicants must demonstrate a flair for imaging and creativity in their work, together with enthusiasm and dedication in order to be successful.

Sir John Stuttard, previous Lord Mayor of London asserted in a recent letter congratulating Jeff on 50 years in the photographic industry: “Your long and distinguished contribution has resulted in several acknowledgements of your professionalism and dedication to this ever changing craft. Future generations of young photographers can draw on your knowledge and skills to further their advancement and provide the world with images they might not have seen.”

So if you are under 25 years old and either are already working in commercial photography or can demonstrate your desire to do so, then contact Stuart Blake at the Royal Photographic Society for further information and an application form:
